Be your own health advocate and make no excuses has always been my mode of operation. Our community really needs to embrace this health commitment and MSFitness helps put you on or keep you on the path.

Dawn Nelson

My name is Dawn Nelson and I am a 50 year old woman who has been deaf since birth. American Sign Language is my first language. in 1997, at the age 27, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. An additional diagnosis of osteoarthritis arrived in 2007 or 2008. I am writing this letter to ask you for help which I desperately need.
Growing up, I was always active and have been exercising regularly since the age of 15. My knee problems greatly restrict my movement. My MS doctor, Mary Picone, said that the lower portion of my body is very weak due to my MS diagnosis. This makes it harder to treat my osteoarthritis and improve the mobility in my knees. I can’t tell you how much I miss exercise and regular physical movement. I have always dreamed of becoming a health and fitness coach.
Back to the point of how i think that you might be able to help me…Sitting and doing nothing all day is causing me more to have more pain and less hope. My ultimate goal is to become a health and fitness coach but with a focus on helping Deaf people.
